Ronald Martinez/Getty ImagesCody Rhodes could not finish his story. At least not yet. But the Bloodline story is far from over.Reigns retained the titles after a Spear and was serenaded to big boos and some shock from the crowd. Rhodes was about to hit a third Cross Rhodes a moment before, but Paul Heyman distracted the referee and Solo Sikoa hit Rhodes from behind. Sikoa had been ejected from ringside earlier. The match itself was very good with lots of near falls. Both men their finishers for two counts, including Rhodes hitting the Cross Rhodes and a Pedigree. Reigns landed his Superman punch and Spear and had a guillotine choke for an extended period. Toward the end of the match, with the referee temporarily knocked out, The Usos came in and hit superkicks and the 1D on Rhodes. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens then ran in to a massive pop. They cleared the Usos from the ring, but weren't done yet. Owens hit a Stunner on Reigns and Zayn followed with a Helluva Kick. The crowd was going crazy at that point. Rhodes crawled over and put an arm over Reigns, but he kicked out at two.The crowd was really into Rhodes and it seemed like it was time to pull the trigger on a title change after more than 940 days. But it was not to be this time. Rhodes has still not fulfilled his dream of winning the WWE championship his father never won. What’s next: The Usos lost the tag titles, but Reigns is still the top champion. The reign and story will go on. It’ll be interesting to see what happens now. Reigns has beaten everyone. Perhaps there’s a bigger role for Sikoa coming out of this. He’s the one who helped get the job done tonight -- not the Usos. And for Rhodes, maybe a rematch is in the offing. SummerSlam isn’t too far away.
