Roman Reigns walks out of the Royal Rumble and on the Road to WrestleMania as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, but he could be down two members from his formidable faction, "The Bloodline."After Reigns outlasted Kevin Owens in a barnburner, extending a title reign that's at 881 days, he continued to beat down the challenger after he handcuffed him to the ropes. The Usos took turns delivering superkicks – and unleashed at least a dozen – before Reigns pulled out the chair. That's when Sami Zayn stepped in and pleaded for Reigns to show mercy. Only Reigns insisted that Zayn deliver the chair shot.Instead, Zayn hit Reigns with the chair, ending his incredible run with "The Bloodline," as Solo Sikoa, Jimmy Uso and The Tribal Chief pummeled him. But not Jey Uso. He came to Sami's rescue at Monday's tribunal and refused to join the beatdown.\n\nWHAT DID WE JUST WITNESS?#RoyalRumble @SamiZayn pic.twitter.com/fQKOEYJaRI— WWE Australia (@WWEAustralia) January 29, 2023 \n\n\nHe turned his back on Reigns and walked out of the ring, perhaps setting him up to join Zayn in his newfound rivalry with WWE's top star.Jey, though, remains one-half of the Undisputed Tag-Team champions along with his twin brother, Jimmy, a title run that's extended 550-plus days.Jey will have to navigate that dynamic and more in the coming weeks, as Zayn is now set to team with his longtime best friend against the Bloodline. Perhaps we'll even see them challenge The Usos for the straps.Reigns, meanwhile, has his challenger set for the main event of WrestleMania after Cody Rhodes won the 30-man Royal Rumble. The son of WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes, Cody returned to the ring for the first time since June to continue his quest to win the title his father never did.Rhodes eliminated Intercontinental Champion Gunther, who set a Royal Rumble record for time spent in the match after entering at No. 1, after a thrilling back-and-forth battle between the two that extended past 10 minutes."The American Nightmare" was sidelined since Extreme Rules when he defeated Seth Rollins with a torn pectoral. Rhodes had surgery afterward, and when he entered the ring at No. 30, the crowd on hand at San Antonio gave him the loudest pop of the Rumble match.Rhodes sold the injury as Gunther assaulted his chest with chops. Cody attempted to end matters with a Disaster Kick as Gunther stood on the apron, but he countered with a punch.Gunther went on to deliver a double-underhook superplex, but Rhodes responded with a Cody Cutter, followed by an ode to his brother, Goldust, with Shattered Dreams.Gunther fired back with his patented shotgun dropkick and a powerbomb before he locked in the sleeper with Rhodes on the apron. Rhodes attempted to toss Gunther to the outside with the submission still applied and struck with Cross Rhodes before he clotheslined his foe to the outside to secure the biggest win of his career. Now, Rhodes heads into a career-defining match against the biggest star in the industry, Roman Reigns.
